On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of filling in for my homegirl and fellow photog bestie Courtney May Photography, to be Cheri’s Macomb County Extended Family Photographer, because Courtney got a wicked case of the stomach flu. Cheri had scheduled an extended family photo session, and since she succesfully coordinated so many people, rescheduling wasn’t really an option. Luckily, I had the evening free, and excitedly drove down to Macomb County to meet up with Cheri and get to know her awesome family. Have I mentioned how awesome it is to have such rad business partners that can send you referrals, or fill in for you in case of an emergency? I love my Mulberry & Sage gals. (Are you saying, “Huh?” Check out this post here for an explanation.)
I feel like I say this in every blog, but I love being an extended family photographer in the Metro-Detroit area. Coming from a large and super intense family myself, I know and understand the importance of documenting life’s stages when everyone gets together. Unfortunately not all of Cheri’s family could make it, but we were still able to capture lots of amazing images. I also really wanted to make sure to pull the couples aside too and photograph them alone, as well, because I think that’s really important in telling the entire story of this chapter in life.
We got to explore a pretty park in Macomb, and I loved the simplicity of the foliage in the background with the sun peeping in through the thick leaves. The kiddos behaved beautifully, and they all gave me a run for my money in their own funny toddleresque way, but once they got comfortable with me, and the raspberry-mouth-sounds came out, the legit smiles started to show through.
Cheri, I hope you love this preview into your extended family photography session. If you’re in the market for a Macomb County Extended Family Photographer, I’d love to chat!
