I first met Hannah because she hired me to be her Lexington Michigan wedding photographer for her June wedding (blog on that coming soon!) When she mentioned that her family was also interested in booking a Lexington Extended Family Portrait Session when (most) of her large family were in town for her wedding, I was super excited. I love being an extended family photographer in the Port Huron Area and also Sanilac County, because family reunions are such a great family memory, and deserve to be captured and documented.
Hannah had told me all about her family when we met for her first bridal consult, so I felt like I already knew them. She had “warned” me that taking photos of her fun-loving family wouldn’t be “easy”, however, I seriously have to disagree. I was literally laughing throughout the entire portrait session up in Lexington. Her family had rented out a row of cottages on the beach for the weekend, and I felt extra-special getting to hang out with the family the night before Hannah and Devin’s wedding the next day. Hannah had told people a color scheme to be mindful of, and the ensembles were amazing, and very colorful. Coming from a rather large family myself, I really appreciate the dynamic, and uniqueness that each sibling and their family brings to the equation.
I even got the chance to meet Hannah and Devin’s “child.” Their sweet doggie joined us for their part, and I wanted to snatch her up and take her right on home to my farm to live among my family and the chickens.
Another part that I love about being an extended family photographer is taking each section of the family aside, and doing a smaller mini-portrait session with each group. I really feel that it captures the moment perfectly.
I also really enjoyed getting to know Hannah’s parents, and loved seeing them interact with their grand babies, and watching the love transpire right before my lens. Griffin family, I hope you love your glimpse into your Lexington Extended Family Portrait Session.
