Last month, my own little family jetted off to Southern California for a family vacation getaway. I love being a professional Port Huron family photographer and being self employed so that I can easily schedule myself “off” to enjoy some much needed (and deserved) family time. I wanted to swing by and share with you something that isn’t really my “normal” blog share, but is still important: taking the time and capturing those family memories, either by investing and outsourcing for a professional session, and/or setting yourself up to take your best photos.
The idea of hiring a professional family photographer while on vacation is becoming more and more popular in today’s society. While I love that my camera also usually travels right alongside me, you will notice something lacking from these photos: a family photo. After taking over 500 photos on our vacation, I am not present in a single photo, with the exception of an Instagram selfie or two taken at Disneyland. And that’s kind of sad, if you think about it. I want to vow to myself that next time I schedule a family vacation, I will hunt down a professional photographer in the area and schedule a photo session to really capture those memories, and that time in (all of our) lives.
I will say, I am very thankful I place a lot of value on decent photographs of my children. Even when we were traveling to Disneyland and I didn’t want to lug around my gigantic professional camera and lenses, I was able to rent a smaller mirrorless camera and a wide angle lens, so that I could get high quality photos, while also not compromising my comfort. I highly recommend putting away your cell phone camera, and upgrading to an actual camera for those moments and memories. While they didn’t perform quite as well as my regular DSLR camera, the results were great, and very comparable to a beginner level DSLR such as a Canon Rebel series.
To end this post, I will reiterate the value of outsourcing for a photography session while on vacation. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images of my family enjoying our recent vacation to Southern California. If you find yourself looking for a professional Port Huron family photographer, or you’re in the market for a photographer for your Port Huron, Michigan vacation, I’d love to chat!
