Tonight is election day, and while I (like most Americans) am glued to the TV, awaiting who will be our next leader of the free world, I wanted to pop over and show you all this amazing Fort Gratiot Beach Engagement Session that I shot on Sunday. I’m so excited to introduce Gillian and Charlie, who just booked their June 2017 wedding with me (so, you’ll be seeing lots more of their pretty faces next summer.) Over the weekend, we met up at Fort Gratiot Park, because Gillian wanted a fun mixture of “autumn” leaves in the photos, as well as some on the lake, since she grew up sailing and it’s a huge part of her life. So naturally, Lake Huron was the perfect destination for this engagement session.
They have a self-proclaimed love of all things classic rock, so their adorable puppy, Zeppelin, joined us for his parent’s session as well, and made a cameo in many of my favorite shots of the evening. Gillian was referred to me by her childhood friend, Kathryn Bessette, and Kathryn will actually be second shooting Gillian’s wedding alongside me; I’m super stoked to work with Kathryn that way and know she is going to be absolutely amazing at it.
I love doing photo sessions at the Fort Gratiot Park, because it’s so versatile. There are so many different options of landscape, from the tall wheat grass shown above, to the horsetails that grow like crazy, to the deep woods and paths, and finally, the beach. You can really achieve so many different “looks”, just in one portrait session. And of course, Gillian and Charlie were amazing. So fun and personable, and their love for each other is so obvious in every single photo. That totally makes my “job” way easier, as I simply have to document what’s right in front of my face, and try to capture those fun and silly in between moments, glances, and sly kisses when they thought that no one was watching.
Enjoy Charlie and Gillian’s Fort Gratiot beach engagement session preview, and stay tuned for their wedding photos coming next summer!
