I first met Jessica through our local Eastern Michigan Photographer facebook forum, and was immediately drawn to her chipper attitude and overall joy that she put out there with every single comment or interaction she made. Earlier this fall, she was inquiring about local(ish) photographers for a photo session for herself, to celebrate 7 years of marriage to her best friend and photography business partner, Jeff. She stated that she didn’t have many photos outside of cell phone selfies since their wedding 7 years ago, and I immediately suggested that they consider doing a Winter Anniversary Photography Session with me up in Port Huron.
Mind you, this all happened back in the early fall, and we both kind of figured that we would have plenty of snow day opportunities from December-January. Enter the crazy roller coaster that is known as Michigan seasons. Over the next 2 months, we experienced 50+ degree days in December, thunder storms in early January, and tons of other weird occurrences that absolutely did not put anyone in the Christmas spirit, nor did it appease any of us that were not-so-patiently waiting for some snow days to frolic in for fun photos. I started tagging Jessica in random facebook posts forcasing a big winter storm rolling in over last weekend, and the 3 of us quickly jumped at the opportunity to do their Winter Anniversary Photography Session. One of the best and most random things is that it was actually snowing on their anniversary weekend. Today (the 21st of Jan.) is their seven year wedding anniversary, and I busted my tail to edit some of my favorite photos from their Winter Anniversary Photography Session to put on the blog as a fun preview into their day, as well as their photo session.
The snow makes for some stunning photos, if you’re brave enough to endure the temps, that is. We had plenty of “warm up” breaks, and got the blood pumping while trekking to different locations along the trail, but Jessica & Jeff were troopers, and did their session sans coats, when the “feels like” temperature was hovering around 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Jeff and Jessica, I hope you love this small preview into your winter wonderland session.
