On Sunday, I had the honor of doing a beautiful lake-side drive up the thumb about 40 miles to spend the evening being Anna’s Port Sanilac Family Photographer. Anna and all her family came to town to celebrate her Grandmother’s 95th birthday, and her home and property couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop for their quick photo session to document the memories.
Extended family sessions are some of my favorite sessions, because I love capturing all those memories that brought the family together in the first place. For example, I learned that Anna’s grandma is an avid gardener, and maintains her stunning home (which you’ll see in the background) and all the gardens all by herself. I actually asked if she was for hire, because I don’t have a quarter of the patience and gardening skills that she has. I also got to meet Anna’s adorable daughter, who, at first, was super timid around me and my camera, but, towards the end, really opened up and enjoyed having her photo taken. I discovered that playing a game of “Peek-a-boo” behind the lens solicited her very best smiles.
And, I will admit it, but I haven’t been up to the Port Sanilac area in quite some time. It’s located about 10-15 minutes north of Lexington, Michigan. I love photographing in the Lexington area, because the views of the majestic Lake Huron are stunning, and Port Sanilac didn’t disappoint, either. The town area was full of old historical brick homes with ornate details, which I absolutely love. Anna’s grandma’s home was the same way; it’s charm looks like a Bed & Breakfast!
It was a very hot day on Sunday (95 degrees!) and the sun was not our friend at 5pm, but we made some locations in her gardens work, and couldn’t help but sneak in some photos on her beautiful gazebo too- and embraced the blazing sun that was behind them and even got some lens flares peeking through. I loved my late-afternoon where I was able to be Anna and her family’s Port Sanilac Family Photographer. If you’re looking for a Sanilac County photographer, I would love to chat with you!
