The weather in Michigan has been unseasonably warm for the past week. I was so excited that we had scheduled Jeff and Stephanie’s Downtown Port Huron Engagement photo session for the weekend that we did, because it ended up being 65 degrees outside, and being outdoors in the warm weather photographing their love was good for my soul. Jeff and Stephanie met about five years ago, and they are the sweetest couple. Spending about 19 seconds with them, you can totally tell how much Jeff loves Stephanie (and vice-versa!) Jeff’s outgoing nature is the perfect match to Stephanie’s quiet, more reserved nature.
Whenever I photograph a wedding, I really stress the importance of an engagement session. It gives us time to get to know each other better, and allows me to see how couples will interact together, before the wedding day. I also get to observe your body language, and how you naturally pose together. I love being almost pretending I am a bystander for engagement photos. I strive to capture the un-posed smiles between the couple, or the small giggles at inside jokes.
Downtown Port Huron is one of my favorite places to have photography sessions, especially since it’s winter outside right now, so the grass isn’t beautiful, and all the foliage looks pretty dead and brown. There are so many cool alleyways behind the businesses, that really give the photos an urban-chic look. I also love old door ways, and the exposed brick that are literally everywhere you turn in the Desmond District. It’s also just a short walk away to the bridge and the old train bridge on Black River. Being outside in the nice weather really made me miss seeing boats tied up along the river, but it was still beautiful, even in February.
I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images from this downtown Port Huron Engagement Photo Session. If you’re looking for a Port Huron wedding photographer, I’d love to chat with you!
