Towards the end of January, I was lucky to organize a Port Huron Winter Styled Wedding with Little Anchor Photo. It was our brain-child to organize a “fake” wedding during the typical photographer’s slower months. The purpose for styled weddings is that it’s the best, as artists, to constantly update our portfolio, and practice all the time. We can let loose a bit, and try out some new lenses, editing styles, and techniques that we may not be comfortable with 100% to try on a real wedding day. It’s also a great way to network with local vendors.
Being that Serena is from Macomb, we had a nice mixture of Port Huron vendors, as well as some people from Metro-Detroit. We hosted the event in Downtown Port Huron, in the loft space above Tio Gordos. The exposed brick, original wooden floor, and large picture windows provided the perfect backdrop to the retro vibe that we were aiming to accomplish. Our models were so sweet, and I loved getting to spend the day with them. The groomsman actually works at Hepta Systems in Marine City with my husband, and he and his wife are so loving with each other. They were good sports, and I joked that being friends with me has its awkward moments sometimes- like when I call you and ask you to come to an event and smile pretty for a couple hours on a Saturday morning in winter. The florist was my old boss from my Port Huron YMCA lifeguarding days (15 years ago! oy!) and the rings were supplied on loan from the jewelry store that my uncle and cousin own and run. I loved watching everything come together, and seeing all the stunning images that the other photographers took from the event.
I hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos from this Port Huron Winter Styled Wedding.
